MINDFULNESS FOR CHILDREN: THE KEY TO EMOTIONAL WELLBEING (Interview - The Natural Parent Magazine)

Inspired by a love for her family, and, battling with her own mental and emotional wellbeing, Ainee Cha was motivated to change her career in a direction that would help others through mindfulness and self-discovery. This led to the launch of her business, Ainee Cha Mindfulness / Self-Discovery / Life Coaching


The passion: What inspired you to set up your business? 

Love. Love. Love. My inspiration comes from the love of my husband, Tommy, and both my children, Tristen and Ayden. Love is the most powerful force that surrounds us. The love of being a mother, a wife, a sister, and a child to my parents is my source of inspiration. I’m motivated to leave a legacy: to be an inspiring example to the world, to show them the beauty of love. The love that creates positive values, unconditional acceptance, forgiveness, compassion and makes life better for people.  


Life is not always rainbows and sunshine. At some point, we will have to face challenges and obstacles regardless of our age. But I always saw life’s adversities as a signal for change and growth. I am the mother of two beautiful children; I reckon that it’s only natural that we want our children to grow and flourish. I want to be there for my children, and I want to provide them with the best I can because I know that someday they will have to face the challenges life brings. In order to do that, I know I must lead by example and mindfulness has proven in my own experience to be a foundation skill I can give to my child to de-stress, navigate difficult emotions, be less reactive, more focussed, and ultimately nurture kindness and compassion.  


I aspire to bring mindfulness to kids, teens, and youth because they are our future. The Dalai Lama once said, “If every eight-year-old is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation”. 


Setting up my Mindfulness / Self-Discovery / Life Coaching allows me to create a positive difference in the lives of the people I cross paths with. I understand that being a mother is not easy, let alone for working moms; women who are constantly battling between work and family. My intention is to support your family’s mental and emotional wellbeing. I want to share this foundation life skill that I have cultivated to support you, your child and your family.  


I am inspired to share my love, to love and be loved… 


The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?  

I did not start off as a mindfulness and self-discovery life coach. In fact, I was an engineering and reliability management consultant, trouble-shooting engineering problems. I started off trouble-shooting my own challenges, obstacles and adversities I was faced with within my professional and personal life. I was battling with my own mental and emotional wellbeing. And it was through mindfulness and my own introspection and self-discovery that I uncovered my passion and the true purpose of my existence. So, I decided to empower myself to follow my passion and start my own mentoring and coaching business to support your family’s mental and emotional wellbeing.  

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?  

To be honest, the biggest breakthrough for me is really the fulfillment I get in my coaching and mentoring. The ‘a-ha’ moments in a coaching session and the joy when I see children just being themselves – calm and happy each time after our sessions together. It is heart-warming to hear them say ‘I feel safe and calm’, ‘I feel as though I am floating in the clouds’, and ‘I feel happy when I breathe’.  


Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family? 

Maintaining a balance between work and family is an on-going practice. Life is not always rainbows and sunshine. Things are always in transition and the only constant in life is change. Understanding this concept allows me to be more accepting and open to life’s demands. Being fully aware of my present moment, understanding my inner self, my authentic personality and knowing what is important to me enables me to know why I do the things I do. Over the years, I have developed a self-care routine that has supported me in becoming conscious of my thoughts, feelings, and perceptions; and to effectively regulate my emotions and channel my energy to what matters most to me. I practice mindfulness, self-compassion, loving-kindness, gratitude and I meditate on a daily basis. 

 

The drive: What challenges have you overcome? 

The biggest challenge I have overcome is my own inner demons. All the negative self-talk, the feeling of not being good enough, to always have to prove myself by doing more, and being better. It was through the practice of my mindfulness and self-compassion that I learned to accept my own imperfections, developing a meaningful relationship with myself and uncovering my own intrinsic values to give myself permission to be the best version of myself. 


For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business? 

Business is full of surprises with challenging circumstances. For me, adopting an open mindset to expect the unexpected has been beneficial to the overall success of owning my business. I see adversity as a signal for growth and allow myself to see the pros in the cons, and work my way around and above them. The keyword here is ‘sustainability’. Creating a balance within my current resources without compromising the quality of my work, while meeting the demands of today without adversely impacting the needs of tomorrow. This comes from being in alignment with my own capabilities and knowing my limits without exhausting all my resources and energy. 

 

Hopes and dreams: What next? 

I have a profound interest in holistic wellness: learning and exploring the connections between our mind, body, and soul. As I sat deeply contemplating the interconnectedness of my burning passion for holistic wellness and how it relates to living in harmony with life (mind, body, and soul), I uncovered my heart’s desire, the purpose which has led me to where I am today.  


Before I started my business, I asked myself, ‘What’s important to me?’. I was dawned by the sense of joy and fulfillment I experienced throughout my career working with people from all walks of life, the immensely valuable moments I embraced serving and rendering my service and time to work with, to help, and to inspire. I found the truth that served me, which is congruent with my values and who I truly am from within.  


My vision is to live my true purpose. I aspire to leave a legacy, to be an inspiring example to the world, to show them the beauty of love. The love that creates positive values, unconditional acceptance, forgiveness, compassion and makes life better for people. I hope to motivate others to embrace life to their full potential by cultivating goodness, to be mindful, grateful, and authentic for who they are and what they do; and ultimately to inspire others to grow together. 


My mindfulness and self-discovery coaching practice is where I aim to contribute and create a positive difference in the lives of people I cross paths with. My mission is to help them discover what their own personal ‘best’ could potentially be; to identify what’s important to them; to overcome their limiting beliefs; to find the core values in themselves and in what they do which enables them to make wiser choices and in the fullness of time create a more empowered, balanced and fulfilled life.
